My wife Gaynell and I are very enthusiastic about attending the “First Napoleon Hill International Convention” in Malaysia.   Napoleon Hill devoted 20 years researching and the rest of his life to writing the science of Success and Achievement.  Napoleon Hill was commissioned about 1915 by the wealthy Andrew Carnegie to spend the next 20 years doing his research. Mr. Carnegie only paid for some of Napoleon Hill's expenses and did not pay him for his actual work.  Mr. Carnegie for his part introduced Napoleon Hill to over 500  folks considered to be the most successful at that time, people such as Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Mr. Woolworth, the Mellons, The Vanderbilts, John D. Rockefeller,  Dr. Alexander Graham Bell, President Woodrow Wilson and hundreds more.

Napoleon Hill's most popular and successful book is “Think and Grow Rich” first published in 1937, however, you can still find it in print in any major bookstore.  Napoleon Hill was in his 80's when he  wrote  “Grow Rich With Peace of Mind” which was published in 1967.  Riches does not just mean money but the riches of life such as good health, positive mental attitude (PMA), harmony in human relationships, self discipline and more, with money being 12^th down on the list. I have been a fan of Napoleon Hill's philosophy for 40 years. So for the opportunity to attend the convention is a great pleasure to be with like-minded folks.

An important part of the convention for Gaynell and me is a tour of Malaysia with 50 or so folks from the convention. During the tour, a part of each day will be devoted to studying the 17 principles of  Napoleon Hill's success.  When the schedule arrived for the tour Gaynell and I were totally surprised to find that were are to give the lecture on the 4^rd day – on the eight principle “Enthusiasm”.  This is exciting for us and we will be following Vic Conant who will be speaking on “Personal Initiative”. At first our reaction to give our lesson and following Vic Conant was --- “no way” ---  because Vic Conant's company The Nightingale Conant Corporation is the world's largest producer and distributor of motivational CDs and material. Vic Conant is also the Keynote Speaker at the convention where  approximately 2000 persons will be attending. It will be a real privilege to follow the “King” of personal motivation.

Napoleon Hill was born in Wise County, Virginia in 1883 which is not too far from our home here in Floyd. The Napoleon Hill Foundation is located on the University of Virginia (UVA) Campus in Wise, Virginia at this time.  We have been fortunate to attend the annual Napoleon Hill Day at UVA for the past several years.
